Winter Weather, Road Closures, and School Updates
Inga is the official name of this latest Winter Storm that will be tracking across the U.S. over the next several days. Personally, I believe that given the rarity of winter storms in East Texas, we should have the right to name our own storms...so, let's get you caught up with the latest on Winter Storm Huckleberry.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 A.M. Tuesday morning until 6 P.M. Tuesday evening. This encompasses Angelina, Nacogdoches, Shelby, Trinity, Houston, San Augustine, and Sabine Counties. Polk county is included in a separate Winter Weather Advisory from Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night. Tyler and Jasper counties are not included as of this time.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 9 P.M. Monday night until 6 P.M. Tuesday evening. This includes Cherokee, Rusk, and Panola counties as well as all of Northeast Texas.
1-2 inches of snow or sleet could accumulate in the advisory area, and 2-4 inches could accumulate within the warning area. Isolated heavier amounts are possible across the region. Temperatures will drop into the 20's Monday night and may not reach 32 across much of the area on Tuesday.
