Texas Named One Of The15 Most Obese States In America
It's no secret that we like everything bigger in Texas, and unfortunately that can include our waistlines. Since November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, personal-finance website WalletHub decided to look at our country to find what big cities have some big people to go along with it. The website released their new report on the Most Overweight and Obese States in America. WalletHub looked at 31 key metrics including the share of overweight adults, teens, and children, as well as the projected obesity rate for a state in 2030. The site also looked at various consequences associated with people being overweight like high cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, obesity-related cancers, hypertension, and heart disease. The website also looked at future health issues related to obesity like projected Type-2 diabetes cases by 2030, projected coronary heart disease and stroke cases by 2030, obesity-related death rates, as well as obesity-related health care costs and more.
For the Lone Star state, the news wasn't good. Texas was in the top half of the states, ranking 15th most overweight and obese state. See where Texas ranked on the WalletHub report below.
