(Original Story)

The Lufkin Police Department is searching for Hattie Elmer Butler, diagnosed with a cognitive Impairment.  She is a black female, 87 years old, 5’ 4”, 108 lbs.

She has grey hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing purple or turquoise shirt, black pants and pink and green shoes. Her family has indicated that she walks with a stooped posture.

Law enforcement have been searching the area around Hidden Oaks Apartments at 3200 Daniel McCall Drive in Lufkin, near Angelina College. A DPS helicopter aided in the search efforts overnight, but as of 3 Monday morning, no heat signals were found in the wooded area behind the apartment complex.

Her family reported her missing around 7:30 p.m. and last saw her around 11 a.m. today. They believed she had been asleep in her room, but when they went in to check on her, she was gone. Her family said she has gone missing previously.  An apartment resident reported seeing Hattie around noon in the apartment's laundry facility and she told him she wanted to go home. Family members tell us that to her, "home" is the Zavalla area, where she grew up, but her family does not believe she could have made it that far by herself. She does not drive.
