The ongoing construction on Austin Street and resulting detours have made Raguet Street in Nacogdoches much busier than normal.  The speed limit on this residential street is 30 mph, plus Raguet Street encompasses a rather large school zone in which the speed limit is 20 mph during certain hours.

The Nacogdoches Police Department wants to make sure everyone is travelling the street safely and within the legal limits, so today (2/27) NPD will be heavily monitoring traffic on the street.  They issued the following statement on their Facebook Page:

"The Nacogdoches Police Department will be conducting specific speeding enforcement on Raguet St tomorrow Feb 27th between E. Austin St and E. Parker St. Due to the construction on E. Austin St this area has become a busy alternate route for traffic. Please slow down in this area and remember to watch for pedestrians running and walking in the area."
