Nacogdoches Police Investigating Early Monday Morning Homicide
According to a release on the Nacogdoches Police Department's Facebook Page, a homicide investigation is underway in regards to a shooting that took place early Monday morning near the 2000 block of Pruitt Hill Circle
At around 2:10 a.m., officers that were on patrol heard gunfire coming from the area of Pruitt Hill Circle. Officers immediately responded to the area attempting to locate the origins of the gunfire. Shortly thereafter, Nacogdoches dispatch received a call from a resident stating that their adult son was laying motionless on the floor inside the garage.
Officers arrived at the scene and found an adult male victim with no pulse and not breathing suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. EMS arrived on scene and determined the victim was deceased.
The victim has been identified as Melvin Rogers Jr., 40, from Nacogdoches. Officers found multiple rounds were fired from outside of the residence into the house. An autopsy was ordered by the Justice of the Peace.
This is an active investigation and as further information becomes available it will be released.
