During the course of two separate events Monday afternoon, Lufkin Police officers were allegedly threatened and/or assaulted.

According to a release from the Lufkin PD, Devante Hulett, 22, resisted arrest and assaulted an officer following a report of him trespassing at Super 6 Motel and refusing to leave. When officers caught up to Hulett and attempted to take him into custody, he fought them, punching one of the officers in the face three times. Hulett was stunned with a Taser twice before officers were able to take him into custody. Hulett was in possession of drug paraphernalia-marijuana at the time of his arrest. He also had warrants.

Robert Cooper, 50, was arrested after stealing a $1.77 beer from HEB, where he had already been given a criminal trespass warning. After being placed under arrest, Cooper told an officer "I'm going to whoop your (expletive) when I get out," leading to an additional charge of retaliation.
