Jeffrey Harris, 43, was arrested Tuesday night for leading officers on a vehicle pursuit after he refused to comply with a traffic stop.

Around 10:30 p.m., an officer saw Harris' vehicle veer into oncoming traffic on South Raguet Street and nearly hit a curb before coming back into his correct lane. The officer then attempted to pull Harris over near the intersection of South Raguet and Angelina Streets, but he refused to stop. He continued onto Angelina, Denman, Homer, Finley and then turned onto South Timberland. He ran a red light at the intersection of North Chestnut Street and continued on Chestnut at about 69 mph. He ran a stop sign at Chestnut and Paul Avenue, turned left on East Howe Avenue, and eventually pulled into a driveway on East Howe.

Following a six-minute standoff in which he would not get out of the car, Harris was taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of cocaine and Xanax.

Harris was charged with driving while license invalid, evading arrest with vehicle, drug possession, and running a red light and stop sign.
