According to a release from the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, a high speed pursuit has landed two people from Lufkin in jail early Tuesday morning. 

Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near Woden road and Loop 224 shortly after midnight for a traffic violation. The vehicle that was driven by Dante Smith, refused to stop and lead officers on a high speed chase thru Nacogdoches County. The vehicle exited onto Highway 59S toward Angelina County and dispatched notified Angelina County Law Enforcement officials.

Deputies continued to pursue the suspect on highway 59S into Angelina County.  During the pursuit deputies observed what appeared to be small packages of drugs being thrown from the car. Some of the packages were later recovered. Angelina County Sheriff Deputies along with the Texas Department of Public Safety set up and deployed spikes on the suspect vehicle in the Redland area on highway 59S. Officers were able to puncture two tires on the suspect vehicle by deploying the spikes.

The pursuit came to a slow and the suspect vehicle finally stopped near the loop in Lufkin, Texas. Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Dante Mcray Smith 32 years of age from Lufkin, Texas. He was charged with Tampering or Fabricate Physical Evidence 3rd Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Felony and Evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle a state jail felony.

The passenger was identified as Brittany Nichole Albro, 28 years of age from Lufkin, Texas. She has been charged with Tampering or Fabricate Physical Evidence 3rd felony, Possession of a controlled Substance 3rd felony. Albro was also found to have several outstanding warrants out of Angelina County. She was additionally charged with Credit Card Abuse for Elderly 3rd felony, Motion to revoke Probation, Driving while license invalid and no driver license warrants.  Both subjects were booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.

At the time of the arrest, Deputies with the Nacogdoches Sheriff Office had recovered over 2 grams of methamphetamine that had been thrown from the vehicle. Investigators have resumed the search of the area today to attempt to locate the rest of the evidence.
