Fredonia Brewery, SFA Team Up for All-New ‘Purple Lights’ Lager
What's your beverage of choice to celebrate an SFA Lumberjack or Ladyjack victory? Beginning August 20, a great answer to that question would be 'Purple Lights'.
According to release on the Stephen F. Austin State University's Athletic Page, Nacogdoches-based Fredonia Brewery has teamed up with SFA to create a beverage named Purple Lights to celebrate the university's tradition of displaying purple lights on campus when its athletic teams are victorious. Those lights on top of Steen Hall have been spotlighting purple ever since 2010.
"What an exciting day for Jack Nation and SFA," Ryan Ivey, SFA's director of athletics, said. "This has been a fun project to see from concept to execution and provides a great opportunity for fans, alumni and all of those associated with SFA to stay connected and celebrate those 'Purple Lights' moments wherever they may be."
Fredonia Brewery, which is located in Downtown Nacogdoches at 138 North Mound Street, describes Purple Lights as a 'light American lager with a touch of sweetness and crisp finish.' I guess you could say that this is a lager for loggers. The beverage will be brewed by Fredonia Brewery in partnership with SFA and will be available on tap at the brewery starting August 20. Regional and statewide distribution will take place throughout the fall semester.
"It's been incredibly exciting for Fredonia Brewery to have the opportunity to brew SFA's official beer," Paul Murray, a partner with Fredonia Brewery, said. "I think our collaboration will be a huge success, and I cannot wait to get it into the hands of Ladyjack and Lumberjack fans."
A portion of the sales will benefit the SFA general licensing royalties fund.
Fans interested in Purple Lights are encouraged to ask their favorite grocery stores and restaurants to request the beverage from their distributors. Requests also can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Given the number of victories that SFA teams are known to reel off in a very short period of time, you may want to steer clear of trying to drink a glass of Purple Lights with EVERY SFA win.
