A Lufkin woman reported being scammed out of nearly $700 by a man who claimed to be an attorney representing her grandson.

According to a Lufkin Police report, the fake attorney told the woman that her grandson was in an accident, had been injured and was now in jail. He told her to wire $665 for bail money, which she did. The woman believed the caller because he knew her by her nickname of "Ma Luce." A family member tried to cancel the money order, but it had already been cashed.

The cost of the money order, including the fee was $675.64.
