In what has become an all too common occurrence, Lufkin Police have reported that a credit card skimmer was found on a gas pump at a local convenience store.

According to a press release, a credit card skimmer was found on pump No. 4 at Big's convenience store at 1902 W. Frank Ave. A service technician at the store for another issue found the device after an employee told him that their key did not work to open the pump the previous day.

If you used your card at this location recently, and more specifically, on pump number 4, Lufkin Police recommend contacting your bank to be issued a new debit card number. Also watch your bank account closely for any unauthorized charges.

Due to this issue, some gas stations in town have chosen to install tamper-evident stickers. They then have employees check the stickers daily. Other store owners have opted to have their employees perform pump security checks twice a day. Lufkin Police recommend either of these steps to gas station owners as a best practice to ensure the financial safety of their customers.
