U.S. News and World Report has issued their yearly ranking of high schools across the nation.  Over 23,000 high schools in America were reviewed with over 17,000 getting ranked.  The methodology used 6 major factors: college readiness, math and reading proficiency, math reading performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rate.

In Texas, 2,059 high schools were reviewed with 1446 of those being ranked.  The top schools in the state were mainly in the metro areas and many of those were magnet schools.  The rankings of Deep East Texas are high schools are shown below.  If you don't see a certain area high school, chances are it was unranked.  Other schools were grouped in the ranking from 1172-1446.  Even though these findings were based on hard data, many would argue that there are other criteria that should be considered when ranking the overall good of a school.
