2100 Gallons Of Diesel Fuel Stolen From Business Near Goodrich, Texas
Polk County Sheriffs say that a group of three Hispanic males showed up on security video driving three different 1-ton work trucks to take the fuel. The suspects were able to alter the operation of the fuel pumps to dispense the fuel at a lower cost per gallon.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division is conducting the investigation and is asking the public for help in identifying these suspects.
This occurred at a local business in the Goodrich area on the night of January 15th, 2022. The following morning the store manager noted a significant amount of fuel missing, while doing the overnight sales and inventory report.
Thieves Used Additional Fuel Tanks In Diesel Heist
This was not a crime of opportunity because in addition to filling up the three trucks and altering the pumps, the criminals came prepared with additional, empty fuel tanks in the bed.
Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives met with technicians that knew enough about the fuel pumps to tell them how the crooks were able to change the price of the diesel.
The theft by my calculations would be equal to almost $7,000 in fuel from one gas station. With this amount of organization and skill it could happen again, and that is why they need your help.
