Saturday, April 9th, 2022 tours of the Oak Grove Cemetery, led by the Nacogdoches Historical Society, will begin at 10 am and a new tour will start every 15 minutes until 11:45 am.

Oak Grove Cemetery is one of our state's most famous cemeteries. Four people that signed the Texas Declaration of Independence are buried there.

This year's theme is "Community Pillars & Pillars - The Good and the Questionable." You will get to hear from the actual people that played a huge role in the history of Nacogdoches.

What To Expect On This Cemetery Tour In Nacogdoches  

The following Oak Grove residents will be brought to life by people portraying them and telling you their story.

1. Mary Rusk 1809 - 1856 (Elaine Lambright)
2. Frost Thorn 1793 - 1854 (Scott Sosebee)
3. Virginia F. Allen Muller 1846 - 1881 (Mary Tucker)
4. Richard Parmalee 1817 - 1855 (Grant Hanes)
5. Lera Millard Thomas 1900 - 1993 (Kristeen Hanes)
Tickets are $10 each, and kids 10 and under are free. The tickets can be purchased the day of across from the Oak Grove Cemetery entrance. For more information call them at 936-560-4441.
