Burn Bans Issued for Parts of East Texas
The Summer of 2016 is playing out much like the Summer of 2015. After a very wet Spring, only a few days of widely scattered showers have fallen across Deep East Texas.
Add to that extremely hot conditions, and it has not taken long for much of our forest and thicket areas to become very dry. For that reason, the Texas A&M Forest Service has included some East Texas counties in their list of burn bans, which include
- Houston
- Trinity
- Walker
- Anderson
- Henderson
Outdoor burning at this time in these counties is illegal. As you can tell by the map, most of Deep East Texas is NOT under a burn ban, however, it is strongly suggested that you refrain from any unnecessary burning until cooler, wetter weather arrives, and that may be awhile.
Currently, 109 counties across Texas are under a burn ban.
