As hard as it is to believe, we are already right in the middle of hurricane season. After dealing with Hurricanes Rita, Ike, Harvey and others, we tend to pay more attention to the storms here in East Texas. We've actually already had several named storms this year, a couple of which were originally forecast to make their way through East Texas.

However, there are several more storms predicted to spin up. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is predicting 13 named storms and five hurricanes for the 2019 season. They've already got 21 names prepared, if needed. I mean, I hope that we don't EVER have to use 21 names for storms, but if we do...oh well...Sidenote: Yes, we realize that 21 isn't enough letters for the entire alphabet. Q, U, X, Y, and Z have been omitted. Did your name make the cut this year?

So, will a storm be named after you this year? Did a friend or family member's name make it? Perhaps you can use that to your advantage! I.e. "I've been calling them Hurricane [Insert name here] for years! Now everyone knows I'm right!" I'm joking. Please don't do this to your relatives. And, if you do, for sure don't tell them where you got the idea!

By the way, we got our list of names from the 2019 Farmers' Almanac. If you're looking for the history and reasoning behind naming the storms, those questions can be answered there as well.
