Watch Lufkin Police Department Perfectly Pit Maneuver This Truck

Yesterday the Lufkin Police Department arrested Leland Randolph, 37, after a lengthy pursuit. It was the culmination of a joint investigation from the Lufkin Police Department and the Angelina County Sheriff's Office.

There were reports that a convicted felon on parole was in possession of a fully automatic rifle, stolen guns, and stolen vehicles. Randolph was keeping the firearms in a storage unit on state Highway 94 West just outside the city limits.

The department had a felony warrant on the 37-year-old Lufkin man for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.

The Chase Is On 94 In Lufkin

Thursday, December 3rd, 2021 officers spotted the suspect with three women at the storage facility. Investigators knew that he was possibly armed with an automatic weapon, so they brought out the SWAT team and their armored vehicle.

When authorities arrived at the facility the group was taking items from a storage unit and placing them in the back of a black Chevy Truck. They spotted the officers with a pair of binoculars.

Randolph then fled the area with one of the women in a blue Dodge pickup, driving through two fences to get on the highway. The pursuit reached speeds up to 90 mph, going from Hudson to Lufkin.

Jumping Railroad Tracks

Authorities say that at the railroad track between Southwood and College drive in Lufkin he jumped the railroad tracks causing major damage to the truck.

The pursuit ended on Buttermilk Road. That is where an officer clearly trained and certified to perform a pit maneuver went to work. It was one of the best I have seen.

Randolph is now in custody for the 25th time at the Angelina County Jail.  He now has a new evading arrest with a vehicle charge added to his long list of crimes.
