PHOTOS: Take A Look at These Massive Texas Homecoming Mums

Everything is bigger in Texas, or so the saying goes. We have the biggest bat colony (Austin), the biggest cowboy (Big Tex at the State Fair), and the biggest container of oatmeal (actually a water tower in Oatmeal, Texas), just to name a few.

The Biggest Buc-ee's is no longer in Texas...wait...never mind

If it's not the biggest, someone usually figures out a way to make it the biggest. For a while, the Buc-ee's location in New Braunfels was crowned the largest. Then, a new store in Tennessee took that title. But wait, a new store planned in Colorado will overtake the one in the Volunteer State. Not to worry, Texas, Buc-ee's has announced plans to revamp their original store in Luling, Texas to the largest of them all.

Texas-sized Homecoming Mums

This is the season for homecoming festivities across the Lone Star State. High school football is in full swing and the only thing growing bigger than the mega-mammoth football stadiums, is the size of homecoming mums.

When I was in high school many moons ago, a homecoming mum was a medium-sized white flower with some glitter and a few ribbons no longer than your forearm. Now, some of these Texas-sized mums actually come with a harness.

I spoke with the staff at Alene's Florist in Lufkin to get a gauge on how mum sales were going. They told me that they are not taking any more orders, they are basically sold out.

No doubt, especially since one homecoming mum could deplete your entire inventory.
