The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Department is mourning the loss of one of their own today (Oct. 5) after a tragic accident just north of Nacogdoches.

Deputy Raymond Bradley, 49, was killed when two cars struck him while he was cleaning up road debris from State Highway 259 north of Nacogdoches. He had been called to the location on reports of a traffic hazard in the roadway.

KTRE reports that according to a preliminary DPS crash report, Jimmerson was struck in the northbound lane by one vehicle that pushed him into the southbound lane where he was then hit by another vehicle.

According to KYTX, drivers of both vehicles stopped and to help the deputy, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff Jason Bridges stated:

Deputy Jimmerson was a beloved member of our community and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He served our community with distinction and honor. He will leave behind a deep void within our law enforcement family and community.

Jimmerson was a 19-year veteran of NCSO and had been in law enforcement for 20 years.

The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
