Enormous ‘For Lease’ Sign Stuck In Lawn Of Long John Silvers Has Customers Confused
Driving down Timberland Dr. in Lufkin you might drive past Long John Silvers and not give it a second look. Today I took a double take.
I was tipped off that our local LJS location was closed or closing. I went to the store this morning, and the open sign was on.
That was in stark contrast to what I can only describe as a monolithic 'FOR LEASE' sign in the front lawn. This is the size sign you would put up in front of a skyscraper.
I drove up after seeing this contradictory signage, and the restaurant was open. There were at least 5 customers there and a few in the drive-thru, ordering and going about satisfying the seafood lover...in them.
I just had to enquire about the sign. I waited while the person in front of me got a crab cake basket? I didn't even know they had crab cake.
I asked them if they were closing down, or moving, and I was assured that they were not. The staff had the same thoughts as I did when they saw the sign when coming to work.
It was put there by mistake by the commercial real estate brokerage, per the employees there, and it would be taken down soon.

It will be no easy feat to get that sign out of the front lawn. It had 3 posts, going down who knows how deep, so for now, there it is.
If you love your Long John Silvers restaurant in Lufkin and all of the crumblies, don't worry they are super glad to spread the news that they are here to stay.
