Earlier this week, a local coach from Deep East Texas passed away unexpectedly. Coach Tim Stanley was actually a coach of mine, on several different occasions. He coached me when I was playing little league baseball, then later on, he coached me as I played at the high school level at West Sabine ISD in Pineland.

Most recently, he worked for Broaddus ISD, where he was loved by everyone there, just like he was at West Sabine. In fact, after his passing on Monday, the student body at Broaddus decided they would honor him at their games on Tuesday night. Take a look:

I didn't know Coach Stanley as well as lots of other athletes and students that had come into contact with him over the years. However, I knew him well enough to know that it's awesome to see the communities that he was a part of come together to celebrate all that he did for them. Not only did we see this from Broaddus, but we've seen tons of people on Facebook sharing memories of Coach Stanley. From family, to former players, to co-workers, friends, and even former teammates of his, the outpouring of love and support has been incredible.

The visitation for Coach Stanley will be held on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at the West Sabine High School gymnasium on Sunday.
