Andy Griffith Dead at 86 [VIDEO]

USA Today reports that a close friend of Andy Griffith, UNC President Bill Friday, says Andy Griffith died this morning around 7:00 a.m. in his home.

The actor/director/producer/singer was 86 years old.

Griffith is mostly known for his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor in the television series 'The Andy Griffith Show' as well as Benjamin Matlock on the television crime drama, 'Matlock.'
