Marvel Studios released the cinematic trailer for their upcoming movie, 'Captain Marvel'.

I'm a huge comic book geek, but you don't have to follow the comics to be excited about Academy Award winner, Brie Larson get suited up for an origin story unlike any we've seen before. I mean ... This is who Nick Fury sent a distress signal to in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War.

That's right, This is the hero that will turn the tides, and most likely stop Thanos.

The trailer gives us a lot of information. We know the movie is set in the 90's because in the first shot, we see a brand spanking new Blockbuster video store. We're also introduced to a young Nick Fury and Agent Phil Coulson, who, through the magic of special effects and makeup look like their '90s selves.

The cool thing about this trailer is that they're pretty much saying the movie will kick off with Captain Marvel as an already powered hero. We'll get her backstory through flashbacks. As the hero, Carol Danvers puts the pieces of her past together through a series of events, we'll see moments in her childhood that defined who she'd become, moments as an adult in what looks like the air force, and eventually the moment that she loses herself in her new powers.

I don't want to spoil anything from what I've read in the comics, but even if I did, there's no way of knowing how close to the source material Marvel will stick to.

'Captain Marvel' flies into theaters on March 8th 2019.
