highway 59

A few days ago, I was looking for a 'Street View' picture from  Google Maps that I could use on a story concerning the construction work happening on Highway 59 at the Angelina River Bridge.

In early 2017, if all goes well, the South Nacogdoches Highway 59 construction project should be completed.  As you drive through that area just south of Loop 224, it's hard to envision exactly what the finished product will look like.

Travel between Lufkin and Diboll via Highway 59 will go just a bit quicker soon, that is if you adhere to the soon-to-be-placed new speed limit signs.

Road crews with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) are keeping busy across East Texas as they continue work on existing projects and look to begin work on others.

The new northbound Route 59 overpass will open on May 7, 2014, connecting Loop 287 in Lufkin to Route 59 going towards Nacogdoches. We know new roads and traffic patterns can be stressful for those folks on the road, so ride with us first and be safe!

If you're traveling on US Highway 59 today you'll be rerouted, as crews make emergency repairs to an overhead train crossing after an 18-wheeler hit it Wednesday.

Construction will take a little over two years, but once it's finished, driving on Highway 59 near FM 2021 will get a lot easier.
