School’s Proposed Skinny Jeans Ban Has Students Seeing Red
The latest chapter in the debate over what is acceptable for kids to wear to school is now being written.
North Carolina's New Hanover County School System is mulling over whether to ban skinny jeans, leggings and any other tight pants. Those who violate the policy could be suspended.
Students would still be allowed to wear the jeans if they wore a long shirt or dress over the pants.
The school district came up with the idea to nix skinny jeans after some girls who are plus-sized were teased for wearing tight jeans.
The school system asked students to voice their opinions on social media, with responsible comments being included when school board officials next meet to formally discuss the matter. As you may have expected, the reaction to the proposal was met with heavy resistance.
