Wednesday brought several severe storms across Deep East Texas with folks living near Sam Rayburn Reservoir and Toledo Bend bearing the brunt of the strongest storms.  Now, get ready for round two.

Portions of the Pineywoods were in the slight (yellow color) chance of severe weather forecast for Wednesday's storms, but for Friday, all of East Texas is that yellow shade, with some towns such as Garrison, Center, and Mt. Enterprise in the enhanced area, also known as the Moby Dick region. As we get closer to Friday, there's a chance that the Storm Prediction Center could upgrade some of the enhanced region to the moderate level.  Some indications point to that happening around the Ark-La-Tex into northern Louisiana.

A few storms ahead of the main round of storms are expected to begin developing across north central and east Texas throughout the afternoon on Friday, but later that evening is when the more widespread outbreak of severe storms is predicted to happen.  According to the latest forecast, the Pineywoods' best chances for stronger storms will happen between 6 pm Friday and 1 am Saturday.

These areas are protected and revered as educational resources about the natural world, and as spaces for exploration.
