Ronald Reagan Is the President Most Americans Want to Bring Back — Survey of the Day
When asked which former president they would like to run the country today, 36 percent of Americans picked Ronald Reagan.
That made The Gipper the number one selection in a 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll of 1,012 adults. Franklin Delano Roosevelt came in second with 29 percent, followed by Thomas Jefferson (14 percent) and Harry Truman (8 percent).
Not surprisingly, 68 percent of republicans picked Reagan, whereas 43 percent of democrats went for FDR. Independents favored Reagan over Roosevelt 34 to 26.
