Recall of Frozen Vegetable and Fruit Products
According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), there has been a recall of many frozen fruits and vegetables due to being potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The following information is from the FDA website. The FDA does not endorse any particular food company, and is only exercising responsibility to the public by keeping us informed.
If it is believed that food items in your home match those on the FDA's list, take the necessary precautions to dispose of said food.
Listeria has the potential to cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children or the elderly.
Already healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can also cause major complications with pregnancies.
Many of our local grocers have these particular brands in stock, and have already been notified to pull these frozen fruits and vegetables off the shelves.
