Mount Foodie! Just How Many Toppings Can You Put on This ‘Big Tex Bowl’

Give yourself 50 points if you can name every food featured in the 'Big Tex Bowl' featured in the above picture.  It's one of the new food items that will served up at this year's State Fair of Texas in Dallas.

Here's the answer - It’s mac and cheese covered with a rich and creamy three-cheese sauce topped with smoked brisket, sharp cheddar, French fried onions, chives, applewood smoked bacon, candied jalapeños, and a BBQ cream sauce. When you order this from the concessionaire you might as well ask for the whole container of napkins.

The State Fair of Texas is known for taking culinary creativity to new heights, and 2021 is no exception. Fairgoers have the opportunity to taste all of the finalists of the Big Tex Choice Awards and decide if they agree with the judges’ selections for “Best Taste – Savory,” “Best Taste – Sweet,” and “Most Creative.” Additionally, a select portion of the 2021 semi-finalist dishes will be offered at this year’s Fair.

In 2020, the Big Tex Choice Awards shifted to a virtual contest, where Fair fans voted for the “Best of the Best” Big Tex Choice Award. Bert Concession’s 2010 winner, Texas Fried FRITOS^® Pie, took home the trophy. This year, fairgoers can find the savory item at select locations.
