Lufkin Community Partners is an organization that assists children who are victims of abuse or neglect in Angelina County. They work to fill the gap between CPS intervention and the eventual finding of foster homes for kids.

Recently they have taken on the task of helping three teenagers. They range in age from 14-16 years old.  They have lived at the CPS office in Lufkin since the start of March. They might not have placement for a long time, so the organization asked for the publics help on a solution, and a lot of people have stepped up.

The Partners decided to make a big step to give these children a more normal environment while they wait for a foster home. Onsite Construction has given them use of a home to be utilized as an emergency shelter. Tons of volunteers have worked to rehab the home to make it usable for the teens. Once complete Angelina County CPS workers will continue to care for them at this home.

Things are about to turn a corner, and Lufkin Community Partners is wrapping up rehab on the property. Now they are in need of things to fully furnish and stock the home before the kids can move in. They will also need to provide weekly grocery money and household supplies.

Lufkin Comminity Partners would like to thank everyone that has helped them support these kids. For more information check out their facebook page. If you would like to help by making a monetary donation CLICK HERE.

Lufkin community Partner was established in August 2007.  The Rainbow Room already existed but had no funding.  LCP main goal in forming was to manage the Rainbow Room and raise funds to purchase new items to be available for the caseworkers to distribute.   When CPS has to remove a child from their current home they try to find an appropriate family member to care for the child.  This transition is less traumatic for a child.  Unfortunately, the state does not provide any assistance to family members who care for these children.  LCP is able to provide this assistance, which often allows families to help each other and ensures the least amount of trauma on a child.
