In just one more example of the way Christianity is getting kicked out of public and private life, USA Today reports a small hotel in England has taken the Gideon Bibles out of all its rooms, and you won't believe what has replaced them.

The Damson Dene Hotel is located in the Lakes District near the Scottish border, and its owner has made the bold decision to replace the Gideon Bible in each room with the smash softcore porn best seller Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James.

Innkeeper Jonathan Denby says he made this change because the world is more secular than it used to be, and no one reads the bible anymore.  Some don't even like having it their room, and he thinks Fifty Shades of Grey is something everyone seems to want to read at the moment.

This is a sad commentary on what's happening in modern society, but he's probably right, if he's talking about his British and European clientele.  Church membership and attendance are at all time lows in Great Britain and most of the rest of Europe.  But, we think Americans who appreciate having a Bible in their hotel room will avoid his posh little inn.
