Here are a few of my favorite things about Chick-Fil-A, in no particular order:

  • The food, of course.  I love the sandwiches, the wraps, the frosted lemonade, the waffle fries, CHICK-FIL-A SAUCE, etc...
  • The friendly staff.  I can always count on them for great service and a cheery 'My Pleasure'.
  • Their efficiency.  Chick-Fil-A is going to be crowded, but they know how to move vehicles through the queue quickly
  • Giving back to the community

Let's talk about that last bullet point.

One of the most recent ways that Chick-Fil-A is giving back to the community is through their soup donation program. The Salvation Army of Lufkin is always in need of the support of the community, and Chick-Fil-A has stepped up once again. Through the end of February, when you purchase a bowl of soup, Chick-Fil-A at the Southloop Crossing in Lufkin will donate one bowl of soup to those seeking a warm meal through The Salvation Army’s Community Kitchen.

“We are so fortunate to live and serve in such a generous and caring community. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, generous individuals and businesses, like Chick-Fil-A, have come alongside The Salvation Army and made it possible for us to provide food, financial support, and encouragement to those who have come to us for help,” said Captain Jenifer Phillips of The Salvation Army. “One of the earliest Salvation Army mottos was Soup, Soap, and Salvation. Please purchase a bowl of soup and help The Salvation Army provide both practical assistance, and hope, to those in need.”

So, make it a point to stop by Chick-Fil-A soon and get yourself a hot, delicious serving of chicken noodle or chicken tortilla soup and help the East Texas community while you're doing it.

The Salvation Army delivers a wide range of services to individuals and families in need and this is only possible because of the generous support in Angelina County. The most effective way to help is by making a financial donation at www.salvationarmytexas.org/Lufkin/, by calling (936) 634-5132, or by mailing a check to 412 S. 3rd St.

For more information about the work of The Salvation Army in Angelina County, please contact Captains Cavon and Jenifer Phillips at (936) 634-5132 or visit them at 412 S. Third Street, Lufkin, Texas.
