School is about to start across East Texas. That means a 'Tax Free Weekend' from the State Of Texas.

You can save while doing your back to school shopping. I'll help out with a few reminders about what qualifies here before you start shopping.

Tax Free Weekend is Aug. 6th - 8th, 2021 in East Texas. Even if you have already done all your back to school shopping, you can still enjoy some amazing deals.

Clothing

Clothing is big on tax free weekend. If it goes on your body you can generally get it tax free, but there are some caveats.

Price is one thing to watch out for. Each item has to be under $100, so this isn't the time to get that Gucci jacket.

Everyone has to buy clothing, so this is beneficial to the entre family. Even adult diapers are tax free this weekend.

Why Didn't I Think Of That

If you buy a ball cap every year for work, this is the weekend to get to the store and pick it out.

Even a high end hat will fit within the budget guidelines of a single item purchase. As long as you like to buy your hats in person, you will benefit from this weekend as most online purchases don't apply.

Backpacks are another thing you shouldn't get caught sleeping on. Backpacks aren't just for kids anymore. Get that new laptop bag this weekend.

To get the full list of eligible items check the list below. Know before you go. Here are some more hints to help you with your shopping.

    Layaway, Layaway, Layaway

Layaway's took a dive in the marketplace for a little while, but your mom's favorite way of buying stuff can still be found. Place an item on layaway or pay one off during this weekend, and save the tax.

Check Items For Tax Free Status

Lots of things you wouldn't expect are tax free this weekend. Lots of things you think should be tax free, well, just aren't. Single items over $100 are not ever tax free, so getting that $170 pair of Nike's for the first day of school won't fly. But on a $95 pair of cowboy boots, you can save the tax this weekend. Compare Prices

Saving 8 bucks on a $100 item that is priced at $75 somewhere else, just doesn't make good sense. So make sure to do all the normal comparison shopping that you would normally do.
