It's not ideal to have a load of debt after college, but students in Texas have less debt than students in other parts of the country.

Texas is 9th best in the country for student loan debt.   Wallethub says in a new report that as of June 30th of this year, the total outstanding student loan balances obtained by looking at credit reports stood at $1.12 trillion nationwide. That's up $7 billion from the first quarter and $124 billion from a year ago.  Anyone else have a hard time wrapping their head around those numbers?  Yikes!  Apparently college ain't cheap, and it takes awhile to pay off the bills.

Utah has the lightest student debt load, and students in Rhode Island carry the most. Texas fares better than all of its border states, including Oklahoma and Louisiana.

The report looked at things like average student debt, unemployment rate and percentage of students with past-due loan balances.

Another reason to enjoy school and make the most of it while you're there Lumberjacks and Aggies.  Once you graduate, it's time to start paying off that debt.
