It's never good to see abandoned buildings around town. And, the longer they sit there with "For Sale" or "For Lease" signs in front of them, the worse they look.

One of those buildings sits directly across the street from the radio station in Lufkin. At one point, it was the home of Carl's Jr. It was located at 1301 South 1st Street. And, actually, it hasn't been closed a terribly long time. It shut it's doors for the last time in 2019. In fact, if you Google that location, this is what comes up on Google Maps:

According to Google, that picture was from December 2018. That would have been just a few months before they closed. However, this is what it looks like now:

As you can see, it's already needing some repair work. The awnings, which I believe still have lights built into them, are starting to fall down. The paint is fading rather rapidly. And, I have no idea what the status of the inside is like for the building. I wouldn't think that it would be too bad, considering that it's been shut up tight ever since it closed.

But still, no one has taken the leap to lease it out, or buy it. I would think that with it's location, it would be a fairly good place to put a new business in. Maybe not, and I'm just being optimistic...

What are your thoughts? What should move in and take over this old Carl's Jr. location? Drop your thoughts in the comment section below.
