Law enforcement officials are investigating an accident that occurred late Friday night that resulted in the death of a Polk County teenager.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reporting that the one-vehicle crash happened on Friday, December 10 on Farm-to-Market Road 3126, about seven miles southeast of Livingston. FM 3126 runs along the east side of Lake Livingston.

DPS is indicating in the preliminary crash investigation that at approximately 11:40 p.m., a 2007 Chevrolet passenger car was traveling west at an unsafe speed when it drove off the roadway to the right and overturned multiple times.

The driver of the passenger car has been identified as Levi Campbell, 15, from Goodrich.  Campbell was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Livingston where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

A passenger in the vehicle has been identified as Randall Zachery, 23, also from Goodrich.  Zachery was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment. No updates have been provided concerning the condition of Zachery.

A line of thunderstorms did move through Polk County late that night (after 2 a.m.), however conditions were relatively dry around the time of the accident.

This crash remains under investigation. Additional information is not available at this time.
