Nearly 5 years ago, when I saw freshman Brandon Jones take the field for the Nacogdoches Dragons varsity football team, I immediately realized what everyone had been telling me -- this kid has an unbelievable future in football.

Every major college football team in the country got that memo because by the time Jones was a junior in high school, no other player in East Texas had received as many college football scholarship offers as Jones.  A few months ago, in an ESPN televised event from the Nacogdoches Competition Center, Brandon Jones made his official choice to attend the University of Texas.

Since reporting to the Longhorns, Jones has been living up to high expectations.  UT has a competition called the Battle for the Belt in which players are put through various and extremely tough strength and endurance tests.  The Battles are divided into three weight categories (light, middle, and heavy) and Jones competed in the lightweight division...and he claimed the top prize!  In the video, the lightweight division is featured second.

Congratulations, Brandon!  We can't wait to see you in the secondary this Fall.
