Hollywood Wants to Turn the Mooch’s White House Tenure Into a Movie
They say the flame that burns brightest also burns quickest, which might explain America’s short-lived fascination with Anthony Scaramucci. Scaramucci was a singular political figure: from his methodical recreation of Donald Trump hand gestures to his, ah, poorly conceived late night phone calls, Scaramucci was immediately the most colorful character in an administration that already featured a surplus of memorable individuals. So when Scaramucci was fired from his official position as White House spokesperson, there was a half-ironic sense of loss, a feeling that we’d only begun to scratch the surface of Mooch madness.
Well, be careful what you wish for. According to a new report in TMZ (via Vulture), a “major Hollywood producer” has apparently been in touch with the ousted White House Communications Director about turning his story into a feature film or television series. The story would apparently focus on “an outsider assuming power in D.C. to the great dismay of longtime political hacks who go straight for the jugular,” and there are already two titles being floated: 10 Days in July and Attack of the Swamp Monsters. For the record, that entire last sentence was physically painful to type out.
Look, you can roll your eyes about a culture that continues to reward individuals for their mediocrity - you don’t have to be good at anything, you just have to fail spectacularly on the largest stage possible - or you can feel somewhat culpable that your own fascination with Scaramucci brought us to this one point. But I think we can agree on one thing: if there must be a Scaramucci movie, we should probably book Adam Pally for that role, like, yesterday, right? Grease the hair back, give him a garish class ring, and you’re already 90% of the way there. When life give you lemons, you make lemonade, and I’d drunkenly hate-watch the heck out of that (whatever).
