It happened in Arizona.  A Phoenix man is recovering after he accidentally shot himself in the penis -- while putting his girlfriend's gun in the waistband of his pants.

Police say 27-year-old Joshua Seto and his fiancée, Cara Christopher, were walking to a grocery store last week when he took his girlfriend's handgun and tried to stuff under his belt - in front.

The gun went off, striking Seto's penis and continuing through his left thigh.

The Arizona Republic reports a 911 operator told Christopher to apply direct pressure to the wound with a dry towel or T-shirt.

In the wake of the shooting, police are urging gun owners to use holsters, not their waistbands, if they're going to carry a handgun.

He won't do that again.  Wounded in the leg, and in his -- well -- you know.  What a story to tell  his kids and grand kids.  If he is still able to have any.  And we let people like him drive cars and vote.
