The Best Place To See The Total Solar Eclipse In East Texas
It just so happens that the best place to see the total solar eclipse is also really close to us here in East Texas. That is because it is in East Texas.
If you live in Deep East Texas near Lufkin\Nacogdoches, or in East Texas near Tyler or Longview, Canton Trade Days is the best place to see the eclipse. I took into account drive times, the best view of the eclipse, and places to stay or eat.
I did all of this and then googled "Canton Eclipse" and I found out I wasn't alone. There is already an entire website devoted to the eclipse, and they are ready.
The Search For The Perfect Spot To See The Eclipse Ends In Canton
According to cantoneclipse.com totality will come to the town on Monday, April 8, 2024, at exactly 12:24 PM and will last for a full 4 minutes and 5.1 seconds.
There are t-shirts for sale on the website, along with some great information about viewing the event.
Parking is provided at the West Gate of the First Monday Trade Days grounds. They are also providing an area on the grounds for viewing and enjoying a shared experience of the total eclipse.
Solar eclipse glasses are there for safe viewing while supplies last. There are free concerts the Saturday and Sunday before the event on Monday.
