Texas Crime Stoppers Tip Leads To Capture Of Fugitive ‘Pookie’

The Texas Department of Public Safety added another most wanted fugitive to their captured list on November 15, 2023. Alvin Charles McKnight, Jr. aka "Pookie" was wanted in Upshur County since November 5, 2023.

McKnight was wanted for Capital Murder for his connection to a double homicide in Gilmer, Texas. His arrest came because of a tip to Texas Crime Stoppers, so the $7500 reward was paid out.

The information the confidential informant gave led investigators on a trip to San Bernardino, California. The Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Special Agents, Texas Rangers, Upshure County Sheriff's Office, Longview Police Department, Gladewater Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service all worked together with the San Bernardino Police Department to arrest McKnight at a bus station.

McKnight was on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List

McKnight was affiliated with the 52 Hoover Crips gang. Law enforcement considered him armed and dangerous, while he was on the run.

His rap sheet before the murder he allegedly committed was a long one:

• Unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon
• Theft of a firearm
• Burglary of habitation
• Burglary of a building
• Evading arrest with a vehicle
• Escape while arrested/confined
• Driving while intoxicated
