How a Texas Mom Slashed Her Water Bill for Less Than $40
With prices rising out of control in every direction, it's not surprising that people are trying to find new ways to cut costs.
The drought across the state isn't helping, with 80% of Texas facing water restrictions, according to KRIV. A Houston, Texas mother of five shared some good advice on TikTok about one way to reduce the bills that are coming in -- without making a huge investment of time or money.
How to Save Money on Your Water Bill
The mom, who goes by @TeamHayHomeSchools on TikTok, says replacing a worn-out flapper valve in all her toilet tanks has slashed the family's water bill by $50 a month because it wastes less water with each flush.
She said she was able to put one in all four of the toilets in her house for $30. @teamhayhomeschools purchased her parts on Amazon, but you can also buy a new, water-saving toilet flapper valve for under $10 at many stores. Walmart has a water-saving brand for $7.44 for sale on their website.
