Bad news for New Yorkers planning to hit up Governors Ball today in Randall's Island Park: Due to severe weather concerns, organizers of the famed music festival have officially cancelled day three (Sunday, June 5) of the event.

"Sunday, June 5th of Gov Ball 2016 has officially been cancelled, due to severe weather and a high likelihood of lightning in the area," a statement posted on festival's web site reads. "The safety of fans, artists and crew always comes first...Stay tuned for more information, and please bear with us. We are just as devastated as you."

Sunday's lineup was scheduled to feature a number of highly-anticipated headliners, including Kanye West, Death Cab for Cutie and Chet Faker, as well as acts like Betty Who, Bat for Lashes, Chvrches, Joey Bada$$, Eagles of Death Metal, and Courtney Barnett, among others.

Unsurprisingly, would-be attendees have shared their many emotional feelings — from frustration to disappointment — across social media:

The event, now in its fifth year, was hit by rain on Saturday, June 4, but no performances were affected. Early on Sunday, the festival announced a delayed opening before officially cancelling around noon. Festival-goers who purchased single-day tickets for Sunday will receive a full refund, while three-day ticket purchasers will receive a partial refund.

Previously, in 2013 Governors Ball officials cancelled late-night sets by Kings of Leon and other performers due to rainy weather.
