The course of sports history could've been drastically altered if Tom Terrific had focused on the diamond instead of the gridiron.

The embattled New England Patriots quarterback posted a fake baseball card of him in a Montreal Expos uniform on Thursday as a way to honor the team now known as the Washington Nationals for drafting him back in 1995.

Brady, who played catcher in high school, was taken in the 18th round by the Expos, but he wound up going to college at Michigan to play football. The rest, as they say, is history.

It's fun to think how things may have been different had Brady elected to focus on baseball, though. Perhaps he could've teamed with Pedro Martinez to form the game's most intimidating battery that was so effective the team won a World Series and Martinez never would've been traded to the Red Sox, preventing Boston from breaking the Curse of the Bambino, while the Patriots continued to toil as a middling NFL team that didn't collect six Vince Lombardi trophies, proving Brady's impact on sports in Beantown could've been felt without him ever suiting up in any sport in the city.

And Deflategate may have been a conjured-up word we would never have heard, since, you know, a baseball is pretty hard to pump up.

Guess we'll never know, unless someone can transport us to an alternate universe.
