Looks like Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head during an attempted assassination incident on Jan. 8 in Tucson, AZ, will be heading to a rehabilitation center in Houston on Friday, according to her mother.

An upbeat e-mail from U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Gifford's mother sent to family and friends says the congresswoman is making great progress and will be moved Friday to a rehab center in Texas to continue her recovery.

Gloria Giffords says her daughter can move her limbs on command and has read get-well cards made for her by elementary school students and browsed photos on her husband's iPhone.

"Every day Gabby improves and shows higher levels of comprehension and complex

a

ctions," Giffords wrote in an e-mail obtained by multiple news outlets. "They want to start aggressive rehab immediately and are flying her to Houston facilities Friday."

I still find it so remarkable that she has been able to defy all odds and make such immense progress in such a short amount of time! Getting shot in the head, surviving, and improving day by day - what an amazing story.
