Cheeseburgers and tacos are the norm at fast food restaurants around East Texas, but soon you could add a deer meat sandwich to the list of options.   One place on North University in Nacogdoches could be adding it to the menu soon.

Arby's is all about the meat right now in the ad campaigns, have you noticed?  Like, "We HAVE the MEAT!!"  Braggers.  Ha!  It's not easy to really stand out in the fast food world, and Arby's is doing it with that meaty catchphrase.  So what's next?

Arby's announced this week that the new deer meat sandwich is part of the "It's Meats Season" campaign.  They're going to test this out at 17 restaurants around the country, mostly in northern hunting states, and if it' successful they could bring it to Texas.  We could be hitting the location on North University in Nacogdoches for the "thick-cut venison steak and crispy onions with a berry sauce on a toasted roll."  Beats the deer chili that we could make at home.

Deer season kicks off tomorrow with the Youth-Only weekend.  That's October 29th and 30th, and the general season for everyone in Texas starts November 5th.  Good luck with the hunt, and with the chili, jerky, and berry-sauced sandwiches once you bring in the haul.
