East Texas Man Executed for Rusk Murder
An East Texas man has been put to death in Huntsville for his role in a 2002 robbery in Rusk that left three people shot, one fatally.
The lethal injection of 29 year old Beunka Adams was carried out Thursday less than three hours after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last-day appeal to postpone the punishment.
Adams was one of two men sent to death row for the murder of 37 year old Kenneth Vandever, after the robbery of a convenience store in Rusk in September 2002. The other robber, Richard Cobb, is still awaiting execution.
Two women who worked at that store were also shot, but they survived and lived to testify against Adams and Cobb at their trials.
