Daughter of MarTeres Owner Asks Patrons to Share Favorite Memory
Two months ago, I posted a story about the upcoming closure of MarTeres Tea Room in Hudson. Margaret and Teresa, founders and owners of the popular eatery, had just made the announcement on their Facebook Page that due to the trying recent conditions, they would soon be closing the restaurant.
Well, soon is here. After lunchtime on Friday, June 18, MarTeres will lock their doors one last time. It will be the end of a delicious era, but there is a request to keep the memories coming. In a recent post on the restaurant's Facebook Page, Beth (the daughter of Teresa) is asking for fans of the restaurant to comment with their favorite memory of the tearoom or family tradition that includes the tearoom. Along with comments, photos are also encouraged. Beth is planning on compiling all received into a book for the ladies to keep.
Here are just a few of the comments so far:
"...I resisted going to "That" tea room for a long time because I thought it was a place for women to hang out and gossip. But when I finally gave in and went with Vicki I realized what I had been missing. One trip and I was hooked."
"...The Tea Room was where I first learned to drink tea! I'm so thankful for being introduced to it in the company of good friends and such a home-like atmosphere."
"...Hoping there will be a cookbook available for purchase in the future."
"...The tearoom was like a second home to me growing up and the people there are family!!"
"...When my husband was terminally ill, I used to pick up lunches for us. One of the ladies waited on me and said a sweet prayer for us at the check out counter."
Be sure and add you memories through comments and pictures here.
