Daughter Is Living in a Trailer on Governor’s Mansion Grounds
In Oklahoma, Governor Mary Fallin's 28-year old daughter has been living in a mobile home on the Governor's campus. But now she'll have to find another place to live.
There was a bit of an uproar over it, since the travel trailer is hooked up to utilities, and that likely means taxpayers are footing the bill for her to stay there. KFOR says Gov. Fallin's adult step-son is also living in an apartment over a garage on the property. The Governor's Office defended both living situations, and the situations are only temporary.
The Capitol Medical Center Improvement Zoning Commission says you can't have a trailer on state property in a certain area, which includes the governor’s mansion. So they'll move the RV by Sunday night.
It's nice to be close to family and the governor was probably just trying to squeeze in some time with kids during a busy schedule with lots of obligations, but the taxpayer side of the coin is hard to argue with. Either way, it's an interesting story. And if you're a parent looking for a way to kick your grown kids out of the house, get into politics.
