Charges Expected Against SFA Student After Three Friends Died in Accident
We brought you the story in May, about a fatal accident involving a car and an 18-Wheeler on State Highway 315 in Rusk County, and now criminal charges will be linked to the wreck.
State police said the driver of the car that night had been drinking. Three Stephen F. Austin students were killed in the accident, and the driver, 19-year old Kevin Garcia, was under the influence of alcohol at the time, according to police.
18-year old Patrick Fagan of Missouri City, 23-year old Hunter Buck of Bastrop, and 21-year old Kamilla Burgos-Carillo of Mexico - all died as a result of their injuries. Garcia was hospitalized with internal injuries and a broken leg.
KTRE reports, depending on the exact results of the toxicology tests, Garcia will be charged with either criminally negligent homicide or intoxicated manslaughter.
